These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Signal safeguarding platform ("Service") provided by Signal Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Service Description

Signal is a cloud-based safeguarding management system designed for educational institutions. The Service enables you to:

  • Record and manage safeguarding incidents
  • Maintain student records and chronological histories
  • Track actions and interventions
  • Upload and store documents securely
  • Collaborate with designated safeguarding staff
  • Generate reports and insights

3. Account Registration and Security

To use the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Promptly notify us of any unauthorized access
  • Be responsible for all activities under your account
  • Not share your account with others

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe upon the rights of others
  • Upload malicious code or viruses
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
  • Use the Service to store or process illegal content
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code

5. Data Protection and Privacy

We take data protection seriously. The Service is designed to comply with UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. Our processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy.

You retain ownership of all data you upload to the Service. You grant us a license to process this data solely to provide the Service to you.

6. Subscription and Fees

The Service is offered on a subscription basis. Fees are charged according to your selected plan and are billed monthly or annually in advance. You agree to:

  • Pay all fees associated with your subscription
  • Provide valid payment information
  • Keep your billing information up to date

We may change our fees upon 30 days' notice. Your continued use of the Service after such notice constitutes acceptance of the new fees.

7. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or restrict access for maintenance, security, or other operational reasons. We are not liable for any losses resulting from Service unavailability.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all software, designs, text, graphics, and other content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to liability.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate the agreement at any time. Upon termination:

  • Your access to the Service will cease
  • We will retain your data for 30 days for retrieval
  • After 30 days, your data will be permanently deleted
  • No refunds will be provided for unused subscription time

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Your continued use after such notice constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
